Scott McKinnon began building furniture professionally in 1991 after completing his university degree in Philosophy and English and dabbling in the music business. After establishing himself over the following years, Scott added a small staff and began renovating houses in Toronto’s High Park area for the next 11 years. He also wrote a home improvement column for the Bloor West and Etobicoke Villager newspapers, cementing his presence in the local industry.
In 2005, looking for a change of scenery and a new home for his family, Scott moved to the Oakville area and began transferring his client base there. In October 2005, Scott was cast as Master Carpenter on the Global television series ‘From the Ground Up’ with Debbie Travis. He appeared in nine of the ten episodes, supervising the construction of interior and exterior finishes, furniture and built-ins. In conjunction with the show, Scott was cast in two Canadian Tire commercials, which aired in 2006.
Scott now works with a small staff, with a rapidly growing client base in Oakville. He continues to look for new challenges, both in construction and television.
